Louisville Colorado Summer ActivitiesPosted by Doug Smith on Thursday, July 5th, 2012 at 2:23pm.
In recent years Louisville, Colorado has made quite a name for itself, both on a national and state level. This city has quickly become one of the most popular cities in the state and was even recognized by many national publications as the best place to live in the country. This of course has been long acknowledged by the residents who live in this fine community for a long time now. Although many people think of Colorado as a cold and snowy state, we actually experience some of the most consistently beautiful weather in our nation with over 300 days of sunshine. With spring in full swing already, residents of Louisville Colorado are getting out their calendars and making plans for one fantastic summer. There are so many activities in, and around the city to participate in, the only downside is trying to find time to do everything you want to. The following is just a taste of what’s going on in Louisville, CO this summer.
Outdoor activities are the most common things to do in Louisville during the spring and summer months. It seems like everyone who lives in Louisville loves being outside all the time! Over a typical weekend you can expect most of the restaurant patios downtown to be packed, your favorite hiking and biking trails to be teaming with outdoorsman, and the parks and playgrounds to be home to both children and pets. Louisville’s Department of Parks and Recreation keeps the park areas and open spaces throughout the community well maintained and free from trash. The city’s new recreation and senior center also offer people of all ages tons of spring/summer programs that include everything from swimming and soccer, to pottery and meditation.
On Friday night, the Downtown Louisville Street Faire is the place to be, so be sure to not miss a single one! The Street Faire kicks off every Friday night starting June 15th at 5:00 pm and goes until 10:00 pm. The main event of the faire is the featured band that usually plays from about 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, rain or shine. There are plenty of food and beverage vendors; and lots of local restaurants close by, so there is no outside food or beverages allowed. The kids can enjoy free activities, crafts and much more while the adults sip local beer and listen to popular bands like CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, The Samples, The Nighthawks, The Groove Hawgs, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, Marcia Ball, The Smithereens, Tab Benoit, the Greg Rolie Band, and the Emmitt-Nershi Band.
