Everybody around Boulder, especially those here at Boulder Home Source, are getting ready for the upcoming USA Pro Cycling Challenge that will be coming through the downtown area on August 25th, 2012.  This race will be held over 7 days in numerous different cities in Colorado starting on August 20th 2012.  Its first stage will start in Durango and end August 26th, 2012 in Denver.

This seven stage race will prove to be a challenge as professional competitors will have to navigate very steep mountain roads over a total of 683 miles.  When the cyclists travel through Boulder they will be facing the brutal inclines of Boulder Canyon, St. Vrain Canyon, Flag Staff Mountain, and the famous Peak to Peak Highway.  For two grueling laps, competitors will be surrounded by picturesque views and what most people consider to be the pride of Boulder.  Although the cyclist of this race will likely be thinking of winning and not the view, we hope that the fresh mountain air we are known for will fill their lungs and energize their spirits.  The official map of the race route can be view at USA Pro Cycling Challenge Boulder, Colorado.

Downtown businesses are getting ready for USA Pro Cycling Challenge as street closures for the routes have now been determined.  The overall excitement surrounding this event has local business owners celebrating as they are anticipating large crowds of spectators and hopefully additional revenue. If you are planning to attend this event you will want to make sure you visit the above link to view the map and plan accordingly for these closures.  As with most events in Boulder, this one is expected to be very popular and there is hope that it will have a positive boosting effect on a wide scope of local business.

This event is just one of the many exciting things happening around Boulder this month but it has brought out a renewed sense of community spirit in Boulder residents as well as the local businesses.  The support this event is receiving is so tremendous that some are even comparing it to other world famous races.  Boulder is already known for being one of the sportiest cities in the nation and with this prestigious event it will likely be recognized once again.  This race is bringing great new exposure to Boulder Colorado for not only being a wonderful community but as a serious cycling hub and Mecca.  For more information about this and other upcoming events in Boulder follow us at www.facebook.com/BoulderHomeSource or www.twitter.com/BoulderCoHome.
