Where You Can Play Golf In The City Of Boulder, COPosted by Doug Smith on Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 at 10:51am.
If you're a keen golfer, you will come across a lot of great golf courses open to the general public around Boulder. The weather conditions are good for the majority of the year and golf can be enjoyed virtually anytime the whole year round, although golf in January isn't for the faint hearted. If you prefer golfing in good weather conditions, visit Boulder between the months of April and October.
The Boulder Country Club was founded in 1920 and has been at the present site since 1963. From its setting, you can get spectacular views of the Colorado Front Range, the Flatirons, along with the snowcapped mountains of Indian Peaks. The 18 hole championship course fashioned by Press Maxwell is 7002 yards long and it has all amenities that you'd expect to have from a good golf club. It ranges over the serene surroundings of Gunbarrel and gives a conventional layout with fully cultivated trees, canals and lakes. The greens are famous for their speed and true roll and also the high quality of the maintenance. You can choose from a variety of tees that vary from 5400 yards if you are using the forward tees to over 7000 yards if you use the championship tees. On quite a few holes, water hazards the same shape as two streams and four lakes come into play.
The Denver Golf Course at Haystack Mountain is designed to harmonize the encompassing landscape to help keep the natural appearance. It's a flat course, which happens to be in line with the golf links in Scotland, and winds through old cottonwood trees all around Left Hand Creek, presenting stunning views of the Flatirons and also the Western Slope. The par 32 course is 2153 yards long and takes around 2 hours to complete. The fairways are wide having short rough; five holes have double tees and three play over water. The third hole, that is a 320 yard par four, is a dogleg, so you play over a pond towards a small green which is not visible from the tee.
Situated 20 minutes north of Denver and a few minutes from Boulder, Colorado National Golf Club (earlier known as Vista Ridge) is amongst the best golf courses in the Front Range. It's also the exclusive course for the women's and men's team coming from the University of Colorado. It is 7676 yards long and the par 72 layout is a blend of rye and bent grass. It was usable by golfers of any standard, because it offers five sets of tee boxes.
