Forbes Ranked Colorado Fourth Best State for Business: Forbes.com's latest ranking of the best states for business ranks Colorado at No. 4, up from No. 6 last year. The ranking measures six categories for businesses: costs, labor supply, regulatory environment, current economic climate, growth prospects and quality of life. Colorado finished in the top 15 in four of the six main categories, including quality of its workforce (1st), prospects for growth (2nd), and economic climate.

Denver CO Housing and Economic Market Finishes Top 40

Denver, Colorado and its surrounding areas such as Broomfield, Aurora, Westminster, Boulder contributed to the area being one of the top 40 most stable areas in the Country according to Business Weeks most recent assessment.  The combination of great outdoor activities over 300 days of sun a year and a diverse, but robust employer base has allowed the Denver Co Housing market to actually show a 2% increase over last year and the unemployment rate is over 20% better than the nation as a whole.  This echoes what RE/MAX Alliance is seeing as a company. Boulder Homes Size Regulations

What effect will the new regulations have on the City of Boulder real estate will be interesting to watch.  If the council approves the ordinance on Tuesday the regulations will go into effect as early as January 4th.  Below are outlined the new guidelines:

 

A floor-area ratio of .50 based on a 7,000-square-foot lot located in the RR-1, RR-1 and RL-1 zoning districts. Floor area ratio would be set at .55 for lots located in the RMX-1 zoning district.

Basements in floor-area calculations based on the percentage of a exposed perimeter walls that are more than 36 inches above grade.

Exemption for historic accessory structures, such as barns or sheds, through the Landmark Alteration Certificate.
