The Fourth of July is coming up fast, have you made your plans yet? We've gathered a list of our favorite activities to give you some ideas for the big day!
Why not begin the day at the Boulder Reservoir for the Craig Towler Freedom Run? The day begins at 8am with a 5/10k, families are also welcomed to hang out at the reservoir to picnic or splash around in the water. Grab some food at the beachside cafe and enjoy some brews from the beer garden at the beach area. This party ends at 5pm, and does not include fireworks, but is a great way to get the day started!
Once you have had your fun in the sun it's about time to settle in for a fireworks show. If you want to stay in Boulder, head on over to Folsom Field for Ralphie's Independence Day Blast located on CU Boulder's campus. The gates open at 8pm, and you'll want to get there right at 8 to get a spot, this free fireworks event is very popular! You'll be treated to live music before the big show that starts around 9:30pm.
Broomfield, CO is hosting the July 4th Great American Picnic. Starting at 5pm you'll find everything from great food provided by vendors, to pony rides, inflatables and a free concert to keep everyone entertained until the fireworks begin after dark. The celebration is held near Broomfield neighborhoods at the Broomfield County Commons Park. Get there early to claim your spot for the evening.
Lafayette, CO is yet another great spot to spend the holiday. Head down to Waneka Lake Park at 4pm to take advantage of the activities. Here the kids will enjoy free face painting, bouncy houses, and more while the adults can visit in the beer and wine garden! Food will be supplied by vendors such as Abo's Pizza and Suburban Wiener just to name a few. All the fun leads up to the big fireworks show that will begin at dusk.
If you live in Louisville, CO you will want to head on over to Coal Creek Golf Course for their Fourth of July celebration! Starting at 6pm the festivities include live music, face painting, inflatable fun and balloon twisting for the kids! Food trucks will be in attendance from all around the Colorado region. The fireworks show will light off after dark starting approximately at 9:30pm.
If you feel like heading down to Denver for the day, you will not run short on things to do. You could watch the Park Hill Fourth of July Parade, marching starting at 1:30pm. Make it a full day of fun by staying after the parade for the Kearny Street Festival, and of course you'll want to watch some fireworks later too. Catch the show at Elitch Gardens, or hang out at the Hudson Gardens and Event Center for their fireworks show following the concert. Feel like watching some sports before a huge firework finale? Denver has you covered. Grab some tickets to see the Denver Rockies play the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field, or even catch The Outlaws at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. All of these games will end in an impressive fireworks display.
Whatever you choose to do for the Fourth this year, we hope you all have a wonderful day and remember to stay safe out there!
