ItalyBonjorno!  The Smith family recently returned from a fabulous, fun and adventure-filled trip to Italy.  Everything everyone says about Italy is true - it is a country that oozes with history, rustic charm, incredible beauty, and an extreme passion for living.    Italy is a wonderful country to visit because the people of Italy love community, food, beauty, and celebrate life to it's fullest every day.
From the mid evil Tuscan hill towns of Sienna, San Gimignano and Volterra, to the countryside filled with vineyards, to the scenic sea side towns of the Cinque Terra, and last, but not least, to the historically rich cities of Venice, Florence and Rome, Italy spreads it's charm and loveliness every place you encounter.  Richness in detail is seen everywhere -  terra cotta roof tiles, worn and rustic beams, rusted wrought iron fences, massive hardwood doors, all with irreplaceable patina from years of weathering.   And, colorful beautiful flowers adorn window sills, doorways and piazzas everywhere.
Can't wait to visit Italy again!
Foodies and those who love great wine feel at home in Italy.   Most ingredients in meals prepared are from locally produced suppliers or a personal garden or farm, grown without chemicals or pesticides.   Imagine having freshly pressed olive oil, freshly picked tomatoes and basil, and fresh mozzarella at almost every meal ... we did!   Pizza, pasta, gelato and tiramisu never tasted SO good!    Splendid wine produced by local vineyards flow like water with lunch and dinner (even more proof that Italians know how to live).   And, most important, Italians enjoy the specialness of preparing and enjoying a delicious meal while spending time with family and friends,
We can't wait to visit Italy again, hopefully in the near future.  Perhaps we will stay a little longer next time, and take in the Italian's way of life:  that life is about quality, not quantity, it's about beauty and comfort, and it's about celebrating the small pleasures in life.   Ciao!
