This weekend if you live anywhere around Boulder, I hope you are planning to attend the Open Arts Fest! This event is scheduled for Saturday July 20th, 2013 from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday July 21st from 10 am to 5 pm on the Pearl Street Mall. This relatively new festival is a celebration of the local Boulder art scene and will showcase more than 100 artists from all over the country. Only in its 3rd year, the festival has received much praise for its focus and direct involvement of the community. This event is really a great way for the family to get out and get creative, while enjoying a beautiful day walking the Pearl Street Mall, you won't want to miss it!
The Open Arts Fest will host artists with a variety of talents from jewelry making and photography, to ceramics and wood carvings. Many artists are hoping to take advantage of this great opportunity to put their work in the eyes of the direct public and will be featuring fabulous prices and amazing pieces!. This is a fantastic way for people looking to decorate or stage their homes to buy interesting works of art that really reflect who they are. Most galleries only host a few artist’s work at a time, but at this event you will be able to browse thousands of pieces at one time. Maybe you find something you have never seen before, or you discover you love mosaic tile, or maybe you even buy your first piece of original art, whatever it is, I'm certain you will not leave the festival without talking about the world of art!
Since Boulder is a place where artistic creativity is nurtured and admired, our art industry in general is innovative, eclectic, relevant, and inspiring. We are fortunate enough to be among such a dynamic group of people where appreciation for creativity can be seen in just about every flourishing industry. Imagination and creativity are the sparks for brilliant ideas no matter if you are creating an abstract painting, a metal sculpture, or solar technology.
The Open Arts Fest is also a great educational opportunity for families and kids to learn about things like drawing, painting, and sculpting, as well as shapes, colors, and culture! Really it's all about celebrating art in Boulder and along that same vein, there will also be a silent auction which will benefit the Gary Zeff Fund for Arts Education and Ed Links Program. The Zeff Fund is a program that provides arts education scholarships and funds to our community's high risk youths. The Ed Links Program is an in-school art appreciation and education class that is operated through the Boulder Public School System.
Please come and celebrate the power of the visual arts and help foster the passion for art in our community at the Open Arts Fest this weekend!
