Our Summer Rafting Trip

"A river seems a magic thing. A magic, moving, living part of the very earth itself."

One of the Smith family's favorite summer activities is rafting, camping and playing on "the river" ... any river that has whitewater!  We just spent six glorious days and nights on the Green River in Utah, and what a perfect way to start the summer.   Floating down the river while taking in nature's spectacular beauty including beautiful canyon rocks and walls, hiking historical sites where Butch Cassidy and the Hole in the Wall Gang used to hang out, swimming in natural spring water, camping on sandy beaches, and falling asleep to the rushing sound of the water, were some of the pleasures we experienced while on the river.  We hope you enjoy a few photos highlighting the fun, beauty and specialness of our time on the Green River in Desolation and Gray's Canyons in Utah.

 Kickin' back and floating down.

Scouting out a rapid.

Captain Greg ready for a little whitewater.

Found a fun little swimming spot.

Hiking near Rattlesnake Canyon.

We hope you have the pleasure of spending time on one of Colorado's, Utah's, or any of the other great rivers in our country, because we have to say that there's no time like river time!  In closing, a favorite quote about rivers and streams:

We call upon the waters that rim the earth, horizon to horizon, that flow in our rivers and streams, that fall upon our gardens and fields, and we ask that they teach us and show us the way.
