New to the event this year is the 5k pet optional run/walk! They are expecting over 500 people of all ages and their pets to attend this event which promises to be a great time. “Strut Your Mutt” will feature a variety of pet related booths, products, pet demonstrations, pet contests, refreshments and more! As always, all the money collected from this event will go directly to caring for and animals in need. Even if you do not live in Longmont, this event is a great way for animal-lovers of all kinds to give back to one of the biggest animal shelters in the Front Range area. Totally a family friendly event, children are welcome to come and participate, or watch from the sidelines and learn about all that is involved with caring for animals in need. So gather up your family, friends, and of course your k-9 pals, and register your team today for the "Strut Your Mutt" 5K charity run on September 14th, 2013!

The Longmont Humane Society is a Boulder County non-profit organization which is devoted to the protection and care of animals. As an open admission facility, they receive hundreds of animals a year who are either in search of a new home, lost, sick, abandoned, injured, or distressed. These animals range from cute and cuddly puppies and cats, to a variety of small mammals. Their direct objective is provide immediate care and shelter for their animals and to ultimately place them in a new home. In order to do this, the facility must raise an enormous amount of money every year; all of which comes in through donations from individuals and businesses within our community.

The registration fee for "Strut Your Mutt" is about $35 per person or $25 per team member. See how much your team can donate by collecting sponsorships from non-participants who cannot make it, but still want to help. The Longmont Humane Society is hoping to reach a goal of $40,000, which will make a huge difference in the lives of so many animals and families. This year’s event will start at the picnic pavilion where participants will enjoy a light brunch and can browse through participating pet vendors. There will also be live music, low cost pet services, adoptable animals, and prizes for participating fundraisers.
