Proud Boulder High Parents - Greg Smith, Cyndy Hinkelman-Smith, Kim Payes and Friend of the Panthers Tim Collins

It was BoulderHomeSource RE/MAX Alliance honor to sponsor and attend this year's Panther Gala. This annual fundraiser for the Panther's Club raises funds to help The Panther Club fulfill its mission for Boulder High Athletes. The Panther Club:

  • Strives to relieve financial pressure for student-athlete families,
  • Gives financial assistance to all teams when vital needs are not covered by the school / district budget,
  • Provides durable items such as blocking sleds, vaulting poles, softball field carts, and lacrosse helmets,
  • Honors teams with recognition ceremonies, and
  • Maintains a Hall of Champions display in the gym

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who donated to 2014’s Share-A-Gift. You made it a rousing success! Thanks to your generosity Share-A-Gift was able to impact more families than ever before! 

Saturday morning:  290 families who selected toys for 815 kids

Saturday afternoon:  295 families who selected toys for 776 kids

Grand total: 585 families and 1591 kids

This is a significant increase compared with 2013. Last year’s totals were 519 families and 1327 kids. The percentage increase is about 13% in families and about 20% in kids!

A special thank you to all the volunteers who put in hours for months in advance of the event to make Share-A-Gift such a successful program. We are so blessed to have you in our community. Thank you for taking time away

December 9th, 2014 is Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day celebrates its 5th year of increasing philanthropy throughout Colorado through community donations. This year's competition is heating up. The incentive fund is over $1,000,000! If a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total amount of money raised on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund. Celebrate the holiday's true meaning and make a donation to a local Colorado charity. After all, isn't giving what the holiday season is all about?

Saturday's game against Oregon State had fans on the edge of their seat right up to the very end. While Oregon's win 36-31, wasn't the outcome Buffalo fans were hoping for, it was a nail biter! Boulder didn't disappoint with a vibrant blue sky day. It reminded how fortunate we are to have a home in Boulder. It that has so much to offer its residents including football, sunshine and 70 degree temps in October.

For me, a CU alum, it was a very special game. While we've made our home in Boulder for over 20 years, it was my son's first college football game. He loved it almost as much I loved taking him. It brought up an important subject, not just football, breast cancer. The players wore pink shoe laces and pink accessories to raise awareness

The 1.5 mile boulevard of recovery facilities found in East Boulder has received a new member recently. CHARM or the Eco-Cycle's for Hart-to-Recycle Materials has moved to 6400 East Arapahoe Road. After 34 years at 5030 Pearl Street, this center will now call "Recycle Row" home in Boulder, Colorado.

ChaRM can recycle all types of materials including: Books, Bike Inner Tubes, Yoga Mats, Styrofoam, Toilets, Electronics and more!

This center will join the long stretch of other facilities able to recycle a number of different materials. There's a yard waste drop-off area, a full-blow recycling center and even a household hazardous materials facility located on this stretch in Boulder.

The 29th annual Let's Bag Hunger food drive to benefit Community Food Share is coming to a close this week and they need our help!   Community Food Share is the central source for food procurement and distribution in Boulder and Broomfield Counties, serving approximately 35,000 low-income people annually. In addition to eliminating hunger in the area by providing food assistance to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, residential treatment homes, after school programs and emergency food box programs, their goal this year is also to provide food assistance to anyone who was affected by the September floods (please see their website for details).  
 
Urgently needed items this year include:
- Canned meat/tuna
- Soup
- Canned meals/chili
- Dry cereal

In a little over a month, the Longmont Humane Society will be hosting their annual "Strut Your Mutt" event at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. New to the event this year is the 5k pet optional run/walk! They are expecting over 500 people of all ages and their pets to attend this event which promises to be a great time. “Strut Your Mutt” will feature a variety of pet related booths, products, pet demonstrations, pet contests, refreshments and more! As always, all the money collected from this event will go directly to caring for and animals in need. Even if you do not live in Longmont, this event is a great way for animal-lovers of all kinds to give back to one of the biggest animal shelters in the Front Range area. One of our new young agents, Katie Brooks, will be participating in the Denver Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon coming up this October which supports a great cause. For Katie, this event will be a test of her endurance as much as a celebration of her successes! Recently our team has been talking about celebrating everything that is awesome and unique about the Colorado way of life, which is why I would like to share Katie’s story with you.

The fact that we live in one of the coolest states in the county is a wonderful thing to be proud of, and to take advantage of. The Boulder Valley Humane Society's largest annual silent and live auction fundraiser, Puttin' on the Leash, will be held this Saturday, April 27th, 2013. Here is what you need to know about the Puttin' on the Leash event.

If you have not already bought tickets for Puttin' on the Leash, don't worry they still have some you can purchase that will be available at the front door. The cost of these tickets will run a mere $60, so please, if you have any interest in attending, plan to do so!
